This Ducati GP8, built in tribute to the beloved MotoGP rider Nicky Hayden, fetched more than US$200,000 at an auction organized by RM Sotheby’s.

The 2008 Ducati Desmosedici GP8 features the iconic “Stars and Stripes” of the U.S. flag, a patriotic tribute to the American before his passing in 2017.

The bike was assembled from an inventory of motorcycles and parts from the GP7 and GP8 and was acquired directly from the Ducati Corse factory team in February 2010.

The model was the first Ducati tested by the “Kentucky Kid” in Valencia, Spain, in 2008, before the rider began competing for Ducati in 2009.

It comes with a MotoGP technology package, making the bike a truly special piece beyond the tribute and its distinctive livery.

At the auction, organized by RM Sotheby’s on August 16 in Monterey, the Nicky Hayden tribute Ducati GP8 was sold for an impressive US$288,000.
